Organic/Bio Lower ABV Another great vintage here! It’s 100% Sangiovese grown in the heart of Chianti Classico and farmed organically and made carefully by the team at the award-winning Toliani estate. The fruit is picked in early August specifically for rosé – so it’s still full of tart refreshment – sorted using a very high-end optical sorter to eliminate any less than perfect fruit, and then given just 2 hours of juice-to-skin contact for color before pressing off and fermenting in cool stainless steel.
The color here is a lovely light pink with orange highlights and has with much more vivid brightness than you'd expect from Sangiovese rosé. It smells great, with big scents of ripe cherry, summer strawberry, Clementine and tangerine that carry through to the palate where a touch of sour watermelon and pink grapefruit join the party. It’s refreshingly light (just 12.5% alcohol) but feels almost creamy in the middle before a big burst of orange citrus and green melon flavors pop out and drive the wine through zesty, mouthwatering, finish. There’s enough substance here to match up nicely with salmon, fruity salads, and salami. But the dry, crisp, finish and succulent texture makes this a perfect thirst-quenching solo-sipper, too.
For You If: You like your Rosé to have a little bite and mouthwatering cherry fruit; you like to pound the pink stuff and are ready for a shift from Provence.
Not For You: You want the herbs and watermelon fruit of Provençal rose – this is definitely “Italian” in feel.
