Our Shipping Information

We’d love to ship you the wine you want anywhere you’d like to get it  - but the crazy-quilt tapestry of wine shipping laws in the US just don’t let that happen.  Because shipping rules are changing quickly, the best way to confirm where we do/don't ship is to call us at 703.356.6500 to get the most current information.  At time of this writing, states we do NOT ship to include the following:

New Jersey
New Hampshire
Ohio
Pennsylvania
South Dakota
Utah
Wisconsin

We offer local delivery to addresses in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia.  Delivery is free on orders of $100 or more to addresses in Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna, Tysons, McLean and Great Falls.

By placing your order with Chain Bridge Cellars and/or via cbcwine.com, you represent to us that you have read all of the following terms and conditions and that you agree to them all. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us BEFORE you place your order.

Minimum Age:  You represent to Chain Bridge Cellars that you are at least 21 years old and legally entitled to purchase and receive alcoholic beverages.  All orders shipped or delivered require an adult signature at time of delivery.  We cannot leave wine on the porch or outside your door - it's alcohol, folks - a grown-up over 21 years of age has to sign and take possession of the product before it can be handed over.  No exceptions.

Place of Sale: Title to, and ownership of, all wine passes from Chain Bridge Cellars to the purchaser in the State of Virginia and the purchaser takes all responsibility for the shipping of it from Virginia to his/her home state. By arranging for transportation of the wine via common carrier, Chain Bridge Cellars is providing a service to, and acting on behalf of the purchaser. You will be billed for this service. By utilizing this service from Chain Bridge Cellars, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation and delivery of wine. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of wine and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

Sales Tax: All orders picked up at our store or delivered in Virginia or Washington, DC, are subject to Virginia sales tax. Orders shipped to locations outside Virginia are not subject to Virginia sales tax.

Price Changes: We will always do our best to honor the prices that show on our website. But, sometimes mistakes happen. We may have put the wrong price in our computer. You may have ordered more of a wine than we have in stock and it turns out the price has gone up. Etc. We hate to do it and will avoid it every time we can, but we have to state that prices are subject to change without notice, and we reserve the right to correct pricing errors.

Weather:  If, when placing an order to be shipped, you request us to delay shipping until favorable weather conditions obtain, we’ll do our very best to honor those requests.  But, absent specific instructions to the contrary, by placing an order on cbcwine.com and requesting shipping, you authorize and instruct us to ship your wine by common carrier on the next available shipping pick-up day.  Chain Bridge Cellars has NO responsibility to consider weather and/or shipping conditions before shipping and has NO responsibility for damage due to excessive heat or cold during transit.  If you instruct us to hold off on shipping until you tell us to “go” and we mess up and ship immediately and the wine is damaged in transit, we’ll refund or replace your order, no problem.  Otherwise Chain Bridge Cellars has absolutely zero responsibility or liability for damage during shipping and will not refund your purchase or replace the wine in the event of weather-related damage.
