As usual, Niel Koch, experienced grape broker and co-owner and winemaker of The Dude scored amazing fruit from top-notch Napa estates in Calistoga, Coombsville, Rutherford, and Howell Mountain for the 2023. The Dude. It's 62% Cabernet Sauvignon this year with 14% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, and 12% Malbec all aged 16 months in 50% new French oak. Layers of black currant, black cherry, black berries, vanilla, chocolate and spice - right down the middle for high-end Napa Cab. The big, plush, tannins apply a firm but gentle grip, making your mouth water and propelling the blackberry, currant, and cocoa powder flavors through a long, satisfyingly lush finish. As always exceptional value.
