Yes, in their 94 point raves, the critics say you should wait until next year to drink this. But if you like your Bordeaux rich, deep, full of fruit and spice and ready to delight both Old World and Napa fans, it’s pretty compelling now. It’s 75% Merlot plus Cab Franc done in oak and the Suckling 94 point review describes it well: “Aromas of blackberries and currants with cloves, vanilla, hazelnut and wet stones. It’s full and structured with velvety, polished tannins and creamy texture. Deep, toned dark fruit character with some salinity to it. Lingering finish with notes of graphite and walnuts.”
For You If: You’re looking for powerful steak/lamb/grilling Bordeaux for now that will turn into something more elegant and refined over the next 10+ years.
Not For You If: You’re after Bordeaux that feels restrained or delicate – this is all about overt luxury and richness especially now.
