The second wine of one of a very top Pessac estate, this delivers extra richness from 39% Merlot with plenty of Cabernet Sauvignon structure and grip, all polished by 30 months in 75% new oak. As Vinous says in the 91-93 point review, it's "a fabulous second wine. Rich, deep and so expressive, the C Des Carmes Haut-Brion is alluring from the very first taste. Succulent red cherry, spice, new leather, rose petal and cedar all wrap around the palate. The 2020 is brimming with character. Today I find it irresistibly delicious."

For You If:  You're looking for a rich take on classic Left Bank Bordeaux that's ready now and will sail on in cellar for 15+ years.

Not For You If:   You're after "old fashioned" Bordeaux - this has deliciously overt fruit and a pretty layer of oak spice and polish.
