Lower ABV One of the most beautifully delicious Bourgogne Rouge we’ve carried in years, this opens with pretty scents of black and red cherry, fresh raspberry with hints of fresh cranberry and floral potpourri. In the mouth, this is everything you could want 2022 red Burgundy to be! Enters like silk and finishes with super-fine, but definite grip that elevates and sustains the ripe fruit, fresh earth and sweet smoke flavors. The fruit turns attractively crunchy on the sustained finish with a tart pie cherry note lingering. Pretty and open enough to enjoy tonight (even without much food) but with the structure and balance to reward 5-7 years of earthy cellar development. From a 1.5 acre vineyard on the Gevrey-Chamberin border aged 12 months in second and third-use French oak. Beautiful stuff.
For You If: You love Pinot Noir that shows plenty of inviting fruit while staying fresh and refreshing; you’re interested in Burgundy Pinot Noir and want to try a beautiful one from Gevrey-Chambertin at an affordable price.
Not For You If: You’re after something super earthy – this leads with fruit today although a bit more earthy complexity will come with time; you’re after “power Pinot” with a rich/velvet texture – this is plenty mouthfilling but in a more delicate, transparent, style.
