A really delicious and complex all Tempranillo Rioja with 14 months in French oak for roundness and spice. Black cherry and blackberry fruit really sing out over the smoky, chocolaty, oak. A touch of Tempranillo’s savory side peeks through to join accents of mint and clove as the big, bold, fruit flow through a long, firm, finish. As Vinous says in the 92 point write-up, "Dry, rich and intense, the fairly reactive fine-grained tannins add texture to a bold, ripe palate. It lingers long with a flavorful finish." Ready now with cookout fare and roasted meats and improving through 2028+
For You If: You like oak-spiced Rioja with a strong core of dark, dusky, fruit; you’re looking for a steak or lamb wine with less juicy fruit than Cabernet Sauvignon and more fruit than Bordeaux.
Not For You If: You don’t like the aromas and flavors of French oak – it’s pretty integral to what Rioja is all about; you want something smooth and built for solo sipping – this is firm and wants food.
