Organic/Bio A sizzling fresh blend of 35% Pinot Noir pressed white, 25% Chardonnay, and 40% Pinot Noir that’s crushed and allowed to soak on the skins for a couple of days before pressing and fermentation. Around 80% of the base wine fermented and aged in old French oak barriques and half underwent malolactic fermentation. The base is vintage 2018, but fully 55% of the wine is from vintages up to five years in the past. It’s finished at the very low-end of Brut, around 4 g/l dosage.
Trained at Kruk, Eric Rodez makes a pretty Krug-like rose. As Tamlyn Currin of JancisRobinson.com said back in May, “Bright coral pink and it smells patisserie-seductive, like a white-chocolate macaron. But it's dry, serious and not at all playful – this is a serious rosé. It feels like scrunched-up taffeta, and tastes of blood-orange, bruised rose hips and autumn leaves. Fine and compact with a long, clinging finish, taut as a bowstring.” A bit of poetry to describe this musical wine.
For You If: You're after a dry, pure, elegant rose Champagne that delivers a big burst of mid-palate excitement before finishing long, dry and finessed.
Not For You If: You're looking for something light and easy - this remains very easy to savor, but packs a big flavor and texture punch.
