A joyful, red-fruited, lightly floral and sappy red that’s just a joy to drink solo, with bistro fare and, especially, with raw, grilled/roasted or sautéed veggies. The vineyard was planted 25 years ago from cuttings of the region’s native Gamay Saint-Romain clone taken from across the region. Think raspberry/cherry jam without the sugar but with some flower petals stirred in and you’ll have the idea.
For You If: You’re looking for a wine that’s light on its feet and still full of distinctive red-fruit flavor; you enjoy Beaujolais Villages reds and are looking for a variation on that theme.
Not For You If: You want something jam-packed with fruit or not fruity at all – this rides the middle of that line.
