Organic Lower ABV The Veneto is best known for Corvina-based reds like Amarone or Valpolicella and the light Bardolino reds from around Lake Garda. But small growers working in the eastern part of the zone are doing something very special with the native white Durella grape solo and, as here, with Chardonnay. This pops with lemony acidity and crisp Anjou pear with a big dose of limestone minerality underneath. More savory than fruity, the whiffs of persimmon and oolong tea left on the finish are really captivating. A seriously complex and delicious white.
For You If: You’re looking for a complex white to pair with savory seafood pasta or grilled summer greens and vegetables.
Not For You If: You’re in the mood for something fruity, fun and easy – this is hard to stop drinking but in a more serious, demanding of attention, way.
