Organic/Bio Sancerre was red wine country until the mid-20th century, and within Sancerre, Francois Crochet's Pinot Noirs are highly revered. He doesn't make this wine every year, but when the season gives him ripeness he ferments his destemmed Pinot with native yeast and ages it 12 months in old tronconic oak vats. In 2023, it's perfumed and packed with black cherry and blackberry fruit plus a dollop of rich earth and finishes long and firm. Decant it if you can and enjoy over the next decade with duck, game and rich cheeses.
For You If: You enjoy Pinot with a ton of presence - this is hardly delicate and not yet refined (a few years in bottle or hours in decanter will do the trick), but makes a big flavor and texture impact solo and with richer foods.
Not For You If: You're after the delicacy and subtlety of something like Chambolle - this isn't quite burly, but it is substantial and intense.
