As Vinous says, Francesco Rinaldi is one of the few producers of classically built wines that still remains somewhat under the radar.” His 2019 Cannubi is stunning, rich and deep with plenty of freshening structure. Galloni describes it well in the 95 point review, “Another super-classic Barolo from Rinaldi. It offers a combination of Cannubi finesse and old-school power that is striking. Crushed flowers, mint, cedar, white pepper, leather and pine lend notable aromatic brilliance. Beneath it all lies a serious core of fruit, acid and tannin.” Give it lots of air now and enjoy through 2035 and beyond.
For You If: You love “classic” Barolo – meaning more savory than fruity with tannins that have mass and grip but also polish and finesse.
Not For You If: You’re after a more “easy drinking” Barolo where the wine has been polished and softened with time in smaller barrels or from shorter extractions – this is a bit strict, but absolutely delicious.
