A fine value from next-door to more famous Saint Emilion in a generous 90% Merlot plus Cabernet Sauvignon red done all in steel and cement. A pleasing Bordeaux funk on the nose resolves to reveal fresh red and blackcurrant fruit with a dash of cedar and spice. The fruit is pleasing from first sip and grows richer and fuller as it opens in your glass. Certainly terrific with lamb and beef and also a delight with earthy veggie dishes.
For You If: You’re in the mood for Bordeaux with old-school style plus a dollop of extra fruit.
Not For You If: You don’t want anything “earthy” in your wine – this is clean but shows classic Bordeaux cedar, spice and tobacco complexity.
