A delicious Right Bank Bordeaux that’s had enough time in bottle to really strut its stuff. Around 72% Merlot for body and volume and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon for blackcurrant fruit and accents of chocolate and wild herb. Decanter’s 92 point write-up captures it nicely: “Fleshy and ripe but so juicy and alive, the acidity and strawberry character of the fruit creates a lively, bright expression. Fruit on the palate is concentrated on the dark, riper spectrum; plum, date and blackcurrant with soft liquorice undertones, but it all really works together. A deep, seductive style that is balanced, smooth and determined. A classic easy-drinking claret with lovely mentholated finish. Drink 2023-2035.”
For You If: You’re after a classic glass of Bordeaux that’s ready to enjoy and has enough flesh to drink with or without dinner.
Not For You If: You’re looking for a lot of overt oak – the wood is subtle here – or something trim and light – at 14%, this has plenty of body.
