Lower ABV This old co-op produces nicely grand Gattinara but the 40 families that grow fruit here need something to drink every day, too. Enter the winery’s Vin Rosso, a blend that varies from year-to-year depending on the harvest but is around 60% Nebbiolo, 30% Barbera, 5% Vespolina and 5% Uva Rara – because what Italian table wine is complete without at least one or two grapes you’ve never heard of! In this ripe harvest, this is a joy to drink solo, at parties and with all kinds of food.
For You If: You're after a delicious everyday Italian red with a lot of juicy fruit and floral complexity; you want a great match to pasta with a rich, meaty, sauce or deeply flavored risotto.
Not For You If: You're looking for the dark fruit and power of Barolo - this is a lighter, fresher, mountain wine.
