Lake County Cabernet has been slow to establish it's own identity with consumers, if only because so much of it's fruit ends up in wines labeled "Napa" and selling for big bucks. Brassfield is breaking out of that with some really exciting wine from their vines high over Clear Lake. Like this powerful, rich and seriously complex Cab with a long and dusty finish. Wine Enthusiast's 94 point rave captures it well: "This bottling is deep with aromas of black plum, cassis, violet, black licorce and earth on the nose. The flavors present youthful blackberry, blueberry, citrus zest and dried herbs, wrapped around dark chocolate, integrated toasty oak, black truffle, mineral and a long, supple finish."
For You If: You like the dark and deep fruit of Napa Cabs with an old-school, dusty grip on the end; you're after a very high-quality California Cab at a bargain price - if this said "Napa" on the label, it's a $100 wine.
