If you look closely, you’ll notice the little biplane on the edge of the label here, a tribute to “Buck” Cobb who planted this vineyard in between working as an aerobatic pilot. Volcanic soils at 1,500 feet elevation add some freshness to the big Amador fruit. As Vinous says in their review, it’s “bold, juicy and expressive. Dark cherry, plum, gravel, spice, herbs and lavender are front and center. This shows terrific depth and plenty of character to match its exuberant personality.”
For You If: You’re looking for a nice blend of freshness and size and a dollop of something savory to go with the big Zinny fruit.
Not For You If: You’re after the biggest of big – this has plenty of volume but isn’t close to being “monster” Zin!
