Anywhere Cabernet Sauvignon thrives, its Bordeaux stablemate, Sauvignon Blanc, will probably shine as well. But Robin Lail is one of the first in Napa willing to let Sauvignon Blanc shine on a truly prime site. The result is one of the finest Sauvignon Blancs made not just in Napa, but pretty much anywhere in the New World. The Wine Advocate 96 point review captures it well: "One of Napa's most impressive examples of the variety, Lail's 2022 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc—picked long before Labor Day's scorching heat wave—features crushed stone notes, a subtle fumé character and fruity hints of lime, tangerine and guava. It's medium to full-bodied, plump and expansive on the palate, revealing plenty of texture and length. The vineyard was originally planted by George Yount in 1839, but the current, dry-farmed vines "only" go back to 1988."
