Traveling to Uruguay in search of Albarino delivers something a little different! To be honest, it smells more like Sauvignon Blanc with some wild grapefruit and fresh herb notes. Then Albarino's classic melon, white peach and salty stone character pops on the juicy, round, palate with just a touch of white grapefruit for extra refreshment. Not classic, but the lees aging gives it an attractive texture and it's loads of fun to drink with or without food.
For You If: You love Albarino and are looking for one with a twist; you're a Sauvignon Blanc fan looking to branch out to something not quite as grapefruity/herbal in character.
Not For You If: You're looking for dead classic Rias Baixas Albarino - this nods in that direction but definitely takes its own path.
