Lower ABV Jean-Pierre Large's day job is winemaker at Domaine Cheysson Chiroubles; this is what he does with old vines inherited from his grandfather in Morgon. Classic Morgon aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry and strawberry fruit with a muscular, fleshy, texture and grace notes of leather, mineral and flint. Large really lets the grapes shine here in a wine made semi-carbonic and aged all in steel. Well done.
For You If: You're about to dig into a plate of duck confit and frites or anything else with a meaty, rich, texture and bit of fat and salt - yes, pizza would work, too!
Not For You If: You're looking for the texture and flavors of oak aged reds - this has plenty of body and even a bit of spice, but no oak at all.
