Lower ABV A good Vinho Verde is pretty much the perfect warm weather wine. And this is one of a pair of top-notch Vinho Verde, both from 100% Loureiro grapes grown on steeply sloped vineyards overlooking northern Portugal’s Lima River in the heart of the Vinho Verde zone. This is the edition from a vineyard covered in schist, a layered, flaky, rock much like slate. 

It’s tangy and a little tart, showing notes of passionfruit, ripe lemon, tangerine and citrus pith with a lovely hint of orange blossom on the nose and palate. The wine is light in feel but deep in flavor, with a prickle of dissolved carbon dioxide left over from fermentation providing lift and sustaining the tangy flavors through a mouthwatering, satisfying, finish. This will be a joy to pair with fish served with a tropical fruit salsa or something savory and fatty like grilled sausages. But we certainly wouldn’t turn down a Solo cup-ful to just sip by the pool!
