Organic/Bio The clonally diverse very old vines here are the pride of the estate and are providing cuttings for replanting other vineyards over the next decade or so. You can pretty much smell the vine age here in a nose that’s deep, spiced and full of Chablis limestone minerality. It’s more dense and ripe than Lechet, with more ripe pear to go with the sweet lime citrus, and more mouthcoating as well. But the minerality remains intense, especially as it airs out, keeping things fresh through a long spiced pear and seashell finish.
Tamlyn Currin’s 17.5/20 point review in JancisRobinson.com captures it nicely: The intensity notches up perceptibly. Apricots, even a little bit of dried apricots, clementine-sweet acidity. This is truly delicious. Stone dust and apricot kernel tucked deep into the fruit. This is very exciting. You can really feel the intensity vibrating through the wine. Long finish, humming with electric energy." Always a favorite!
For You If: You're looking for pure Chablis character with the density and range to go with more than just shellfish (although it will be lovely with oysters!).
Not For You If: You're looking for lean and mean Chablis - this has density, body, texture.
