Lower ABV Bastardo in Portugal, Maturana Tinta in Spain, but Trousseau remains best at home in Jura, France. And this is what it's supposed to be like, feathery light (12.5% alcohol) but with HUGE flavor impact, fresh in feel but remarkably rich to taste, and serving up layer upon layer of flavor: cranberry, strawberry, black pepper, damp earth, smoke, tobacco, leather and more. Wildly delicious and super food-friendly. Try it with roasted birds, savory mushrooms, mountain cheeses and garlicky hard salami. FWIW, this is one of Doug’s favorite wines in the shop.
For You If: You’re looking for something to elevate you fancy dinner without turning to Willamette Valley Pinot or red Burgundy; you’re trying to out-wine-geek folks in your tasting group; you like funny shaped bottles – the traditional Jura bottle is odd in a classy way!
