Organic/Bio A deliciously direct blend of equal parts Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre and Carignan grown from Lirac down south into Provence. The organic grapes are hand harvested, fermented and aged 12 months in concrete tanks and then given enough time in bottle to round out and deliver wide-open pleasure.
This captures the sunny warmth and ripeness of the south of France perfectly while retaining a delightful freshness (and hitting just 13.5% alcohol). Pretty aromas of sliced strawberries and warm stones lead to a mouthful of fresh red berry fruit with just a touch of the lavender, thyme and black olive scents the French call garigue. This stays soft enough on the finish to be a great party red and can even take a light chill. But it’s also big and bold enough to make a terrific match for anything you’re pulling off the grill.
For You If: You like the flavors of southern Rhone reds – big red fruit, garigue, maybe some warm stones – and want that in a not-so-heavy package.
Not For You If: You’re looking for knock you over the head weight, power and/or intensity – this has big flavors but rides along your palate with ease.
