Organic/Bio The little village of Visan in the middle of the Cotes du Rhone always seems to give wines with a sleek fruit and a hint of something we might call “ink” (but in a good way – really!). The blend of organically grown Syrah (65%), and Grenache (25%) and Mourvedre (10%) is a touch more fresh and vibrant than usual and still stays silky in feel. The pinch of black pepper and dark chocolate invite matching up with meats and veggie dishes laced with Provençal herb or black olives.
For You If: You’re after some density and volume in your winter/cookout red; “peppery” sounds good to you; you like the sound of a silky finish.
Not For You If: You’re after either the grip and earthiness of Northern Rhone Syrah or the fat fruit of Southern Rhone Grenache blends - this is somewhere in the middle of that spectrum.
