A rare Left Bank Saint Estephe where Merlot takes the lead, this is exceptionally delicious already and has plenty of room to grow. As Vinous says in their 92 point review from 2020, “The 2016 Lilian Ladouys is opulent and vivacious on a nose of red currant and raspberry fruit, well integrated oak and lovely rose petal aromas. The medium-bodied palate delivers supple tannins, well-judged acidity, good body and a grippy but detailed finish with veins of blue fruit. This is a joy to drink.”
For You If: You’re in the mood for Left Bank Bordeaux in a more generous, opulent, style that stays very true to its Bordeaux roots; you’re after a good Bordeaux for steak – this will shine.
Not For You If: You prefer your Bordeaux austere, tight, or very mineral – this is open, generous and has just a dash of graphite underneath the delicious fruit.
