From the masters of Alto Adige’s traditional “Terlaner” blend – Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and a little Sauvignon Blanc – this is one of Italy’s benchmark whites. It’s from the co-op’s finest vineyard sites and fermented and aged in old casks to create more roundness and complexity. And while it will certainly keep getting better over the next 10+ years, it’s stunningly delicious today.
Not just our opinion. In their 95 point review, Wine Enthusiast loved how “Invigorating acidity leads the way on the palate with pristine orchard fruits lifted by citrus oils, fresh herbs and a distinct flintiness that culminates in the rejuvenation of not just the palate but the soul.” And Suckling’s 97 point rave concludes simply: “Complex and complete.” Delicious solo and ready to handle anything at table from simple seafood to eggplant parm or even a juicy T-bone steak.
For You If: You’re looking for a wine if immense complexity and character that’s easy to drink solo and will impress at table with almost anything you pair it with.
Not For You If: You’re after the primary fruitiness of something like New Zealand Sauvignon or oaky richness – this see barrel, but just enough to give shape and spice, not wood flavor.
