If you don't think of Alto Adige for Chardonnay...well, you will after this! From hand-harvested grapes done 50/50 in steel and big, old, oak casks, it has the richness to satisfy California fans and purity, acidity and minerality to scratch a Burgundy itch. And it will just get better over the next decade. As Wine Spectator says in the 93 point write-up, "A lovely white, this offers pure, appealing flavors of ripe yellow apple and pear, verbena, and pickled ginger, all enriched by subtle notes of hazelnut, vanilla and lemon curd. Long and silky, with finely chiseled acidity providing graceful definition. Mineral and spice accents play on the long finish. Drink now through 2035."
For You If: You like Chardonnay in any of its incantations from Russian River, CA to the heart of Burgundy; you're after something to drink with a buttery fish/shellfish dish or anything creamy or roasted rich.
Not For You If: You're looking for something really heavy or really light - the medium-bodied feel here is perfect for delivering both minerality and richness.
