Smells great, tastes even better, crazy good price for high quality white Burgundy. That’s really what you need to know here, but we’ll try to give you a little more. It’s from vineyards on the Puligny border and done 60% in steel (for fruit and minerality) and 40% in oak (10% new for spice and richness).
The stone fruit, lemon and hazelnut aromas are a little blocked by a touch of “reduction,” the nutty/stony aromas that come from allowing the wine to rest on the fine lees (spent yeast cells) after fermentation. But the palate isn’t just open – it’s exciting. The wine sizzles with energy to balance the generous apple and stone fruit core with accents of hazelnut, chalk dust, lime zest and hazelnut. The flavors drive nicely to the back of your palate where Golden Delicious, Anjou pear, and salty caramel flavors linger over dusty minerals and citrus pith. Certainly ready to drink right now, this may be even better in 2026 and will taste great through the end of the decade. You just can’t get more Burgundy Chardonnay from $29.98!
For You If: You love white Burgundy and want to be well stocked with a good one you can open anytime you’re thirsty; you enjoy Chardonnay but haven’t yet found the Burgundy version that really ticks your tock – this will get the job done.
Not For You If: You prefer either a lot of oak or none at all on your Chardonnay – the wood is carefully done here, giving shape and spice vs the flavor of oak.
