Organic/Bio A super steely and crisp take on Verdejo, with the orange citrus reading pithy and fresh and a touch of stone fruit for extra complexity. It’s from 20-30 year-old vines around the village of Le Seca with a few hours of skin contact before fermentation in steel (80%) and old oak and 12 months on the lees. A lot of Verdejo presents as kind of a fruity, orange-y, non-grassy version of Sauvignon Blanc, but here everything is tighter, more focused, mineral and crisp. Delicious.
For You If: Certainly for anyone who knows and likes the orange/tangerine flavors of Verdejo and wants that with more structure and focus than usual; for fans of intense Italian whites that want that kind of focus/grip with a sunny Spanish flair.
Not For You If: You’re in the mood for something fruity – this has plenty of fruit, but it’s wrapped in a mineral core that’s the real star here.
