A Madeira-loving friend of the shop who has drunk a fair bit of pre WWI examples names this one of his favorites - especially given the price. Bual is a richer, sweeter, style compared to Sercial or Verdelho, with honey, caramel, and orange marmalade flavors with enough sweetness to seduce but the vibrancy to avoid overwhelming the senses.

"Balanced and plush, with concentrated buttercream, hazelnut, dried apricot and tropical fruit flavors that are still fresh and lively. Citrus zest and sea salt notes show midpalate. The finish lingers with cream, dried tarragon and Asian spice details."
