Lower ABV From a 2,300 foot high ridge in the Coastal Mountains, this is about as beautiful as Syrah gets. All whole cluster and aged in one new and one used cask, there’s lovely fruit here but it’s the savory notes that steal the show. As Vinous says in the 94 point review, it’s “gorgeous. It offers a rush of blue/purplish fruit intermingled with graphite, crushed rocks, lavender, incense and cloves. Veins of supporting tannin pull it all together effortlessly. This dark, dense Syrah has a ton to offer.” Amazing presence and density for just 12.9% alcohol.
For You If: You love the very best Northern Rhone Syrah and want that character with just a kiss of California fruit; you want a deeply flavored red that stays pure and elegant from start to finish; you’re eating lamb – drink this.
Not For You If: You like the richer, fruitier, Syrah of warmer sites on the North Coast or lower-altitude Central Coast sites.
