From the oldest known planting of Ruche, a wild, almost exotic, wine starting with aromas of violets, rose petal, iris, cardamon, white pepper and dark red fruit. The flavors deliver just-right ripe cherry/dark berry fruit with a zesty pomegranate bite and fine tannins that support the juicy, long, finish. A great wine to match up with salami and cheese before dinner and savory agnolotti and other cheese or meat-filled pastas.
For You If: You like a lot of savory flavors to go with your rich red wine fruit; you're in the mood for a wine with plenty of flavor but no hard edges or uncomfortable grip.
Not For You If: You're looking for the big acids and tannins of Piemonte's Nebbiolo - like Nebbiolo, this has lots of perfume and flavor, but it's much softer and ready to drink now.
