Organic/Bio As Vinous wrote a few years ago, this is "one of the top estates in Tarragona, up there with the big players in Montsant and Priorat...At the entry level, the quality here is astonishing. I’ve often found myself wondering if I’m reading the prices right." We're pretty astonished by what Nuria Altés delivers here by blending young (15 years old) and old (80 and over!) vine fruit, fully destemmed and done on concrete.
Suckling describes it well in the 90 point write-up: "fine spices and olives to the red berries and red cherries on the nose. This is fruity, juicy and dry on the palate with a medium body and svelte tannins." A fun cocktail red on a cool evening and terrific with anything off the grill or dishes with lots of cumin - trust us; garnacha and cumin are the bomb!
For You If: You're looking for nutso value in a wine with big fruit, some earthy complexity, and a finish friendly with food and solo enjoyment.
Not For You If: You're looking for something light - this has some heft - or oaky.
