Organic John Lockwood grew up in Virginia, got introduced to grapes working a summer job in Vermont and started Enfield as a side-gig while working at Failla in 2010. He focuses on getting the character of old vines and unique sites into the bottle – and, wow, does he ever do that here! This is own-rooted Chenin planted in 1978 in the sandy, mineral-rich, soils of a vineyard so loaded with fossils it’s come to be called Jurassic Park. The wine is as intense as the site, super-vibrant and linear with complex notes of lanolin, green stone fruit, candle wax and crushed seashell minerality.  It will wake up your palate solo and be stunning as a contrast to rich seafood and poultry.  Organic farming, minimal sulfur.
