Organic/Bio Year-in, year-out, one of our very favorite Rosso di Montalcinos comes from this all-woman winery that add's a touch of grace to Sangiovese Grosso's raw, intense, power and heft. A really good Rosso di Montalcino shouldn't be "declassified Brunello" - it should be its own thing for its own purposes. Which is what we have here from soils and with farming specifically chosen to give more flavor early and immediately appealing structure. Pretty dark red berry fruit, a whiff of leather with just enough tannin to pair perfectly with steak. A really lovely, pure, interpretation to enjoy over the next decade.
For You If: You like a bit of Brunello flavor in a wine built to drink tonight especially with a burger or a steak - although pizza's going to work great, too!
Not For You If: You're looking for the more intense weight and structure of true Brunello - this is, by design, lighter, fresher and more open than that.
