With Domaine Tempier, the Portalis family’s Ch Pradeaux defines Bandol’s history and leads the appellation on quality. Their rosé is a 50/50 blend of Mourvedre and Cinsault, giving this both serious intensity and terrific freshness. Wine Spectator’s 93 point rave for last year applies in 2024, too: “This is sturdy and fresh, with a copper hue and loads of blood orange, freshly squeezed tangerine and dried garrigue. White cherry and grapefruit notes chime in, bringing a pleasing bitterness to the densely built palate. Finely sculpted tannins guide the long, tangy finish, marked by a mint detail. Distinctive and delicious.”
For You If: You’re looking for rosé to stand up to big flavors from the grill or oven while still being fresh, dry, and mouthwatering.
Not For You If: You’re after “easy” or “fruity” – this is easy to drink and has lovely fruit, but there’s substance here that demands attention.
