Lower ABV Ch Marie du Fou wines showcase the traditions of the Mourat family and the tiny region of Fiefs Vendeens at the end of the Loire River as it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. A blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon and Negrette give a juicy, herbal, black-fruited red with remarkable guts and grip for an ocean-influence region like this. The herbal and meaty/savory notes make this terrific with a classic steak-frites or even cassoulet without getting in the way of solo sipping. The bottle replicates the 17th century vessels used at the estate - they've been doing this wine thing a while in Vendeens!
For You If: You're in the mood for a gutsy bistro red, one with a chunky feel and some meatiness to go with the dark fruit.
Not For You If: You're looking for super-ripe Rhone or California fruit flavors - this is ripe, but in a fresher/juicier style.
