Lower ABV Founded in 1908, forty families contribute the fruit from their tiny plots of Nebbiolo to this very traditional co-op winery in northern Piedmont. The bright, fresh, fruit ferments and macerates 30 days with native yeast and in concrete tanks and big, old, casks. Then two years in Slavonian oak and another year in concrete allows the cool-climate tannins to soften and brings forward the lovely strawberry/cherry fruit. Accents of violets and sweet spice add complexity to very pure, elegant, flavors that flow nicely over the gently gripping tannins at the end. A lovely bottle of Nebbiolo that’s ready to go now.
For You If: You're in the mood for something that's simultaneously light in feel and powerful in texture; you're after an excellent counterpoint match to rich foods - this balances nicely with fresh, ripe, fruit flavors.
Not For You If: You're looking for something light/low ABV or smooth - Nebbiolo needs to get all the way ripe and still has firm, fine, tannins.
