Bouchaine releases its Chardonnays late so they have a chance to really flower in bottle. Like here, where the oak has integrated with the rich pear fruit and acids come up to keep things fresh and highly drinkable. As Suckling says in the 91 point review, "Notes of glazed lemons, dried pineapple, crushed almonds and pie crust. Some vanilla, too. Full-bodied, lean and sleek on the palate with some creamy viscosity and crunchy, lemony acidity. Hints of salted caramel at the end."
For You If: You are in the mood for classic California Chardonnay made with a deft hand to balance fruit, freshness, oak and buttery pie crust complexity.
Not For You If: You're looking for something lean and mean - this is ripe, flowing and generous.
