When we talk about Nebbiolo from Piemonte it’s often in reference to Barolo or Barbaresco. Roero Nebbiolo, though, is something else entirely – less astringent, brighter in fruit and a bit more savory. This is a great example with pure blackberry fruit and accents of leather, sandalwood and cedar and a supple feel that makes us think of an Italian take on something like Beaujolais or Loire Valley Cab Franc. Fun to drink with all kinds of food and solo, too.
For You If: You enjoy a wine with plenty of structure but no hard edges and generous fruit that invites both solo sipping and matching up with robust food.
Not For You If: You’re after the tannic grip and sharper acidity of Barolo – this is easier, softer and more open if no less satisfying in its own way.
