Lower ABV La Roche de Solutre is an exposed slice of limestone rising up above the vineyards of this portion of the Macon, reminding you that the soils here have the chalky marl so perfect for terrific Burgundy Chardonnay. The vines for this wine grow in the shadow of Solutre, are harvested by hand and ferment and age in old oak cask. There’s lovely richness of texture and flavor here, with a creamy feel to the ripe pear and stone fruit. The finish is broad and flowing, with buttered nuts and pear tart flavors lingering with just a touch of chalky minerality keeping things fresh and interesting. For fans of classic white Burgundy and anyone who just loves an outstanding Chardonnay value.
