We tasted this because Jacquelyn is friends with the winemakers; we bought it because it’s delicious! It's the usual Port blend of grapes from barrels 6-7 years old and delivers noticeably more weight and complexity than a "regular" Tawny. Dried fig and strawberry fruit is wrapped up in toasty hazelnut and walnut flavors and lifted by hints of cinnamon and tangerine skin and a big burst of caramel crème on the finish. The bottle we’ve had open and in the fridge for 3+ weeks at this writing is going strong!
For You If: You’re after a really good Tawny Port experience for dessert, with dessert and especially with salty cheese and nuts at an excellent price.
Not For You If: You’re after the rich red fruit of Ruby/Vintage-style ports or the detail and cut of a fine 20 Year Tawny – there’s a reason the 20 Year stuff costs so much more, but this is really satisfying for what it is.
