Organic/Bio Although the Serraboella vineyard – along with Montestefano – produces very “Barolo-like” wines, this release of the Paitin family’s flagship Nebbiolo matches that power with lovely Barbaresco elegance and purity. From certified organic vines of historic Nebbiolo clones, it’s full of velvety red fruit, rose petal, and sweet spice flavors already. Traditional winemaking with 4-8 weeks on the skins and 20 months aging in large, untoasted, older Slavonian and Austrian boti polishes Nebbiolo’s formidable tannins nicely. Already delicious with a few hours in decanter, the wine will sing most beautifully from 2024-2039.
"Sandalwood and culinary spice aromas mingle with rose leather and camphor. Showing structure and a racy finesse, the vibrant palate is young and loaded with nervous energy at this stage but already delicious, offering juicy Morello cherry, raspberry and star anise framed in taut, refined tannins and bright acidity."
"A velvety and delicious Barbaresco with chocolate, coffee and blackberry aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with layers of ripe tannins and a long and juicy finish. Reserved at the finish. This needs time to open. Better after 2024."
"The Paitin 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella reaches a perfect pitch between fruit ripeness and acidity. This exacting balance is a hallmark of the vintage. The house style, on the other hand, is focused on elegance, so you really get quite a beautiful drinking experience with this bottle. Red and purple fruits segue to wild rose and red licorice."
