Lower ABV Age has a powerful influence on wine. Here there’s a bit of bottle age and a lot of vine-age from 90 year-old Albarino growing in sandy granite soils near the Atlantic. There’s a richness to the stone fruit core with plenty of balancing green apple, lime and crushed stone/sea salt for freshness and energy. As Wine Advocate says in the 93 point rave, “It's sharp, clean, precise, tasty and long, vibrant and fresh.”
For You If: You love Albarino and want to try one with extra lees contact – but no wood – that’s singing with both freshness and maturity; you’re after an elevated wine for shrimp, squid, clams, etc.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something that’s salty but neutral like Muscadet – this has all the salinity but more fruit; you’re after something round, soft and/or oaky – this is all steel and all cut and energy.
