Lower ABV The Greeks brought Falanghina to the area around Naples and the Romans prized it for its blend of ripe fruit flavors and zesty acidity. From vines near the sea it gives something salty crisp, almost Albarino-like. From the white soils of Sannio it's broader and more fruit-filled, but still nicely mineral and fresh. And here, well south of Sorrento in seaside hills it splits the difference, delivering both ripe fruit and plenty of minerality, too.
Aromas and flavors of fresh green apple, juicy white peach, a whiff of almond blossoms and something very lightly nutty that reminds us of raw sunflower seeds arrive with compelling immediacy and impact. Then salty minerlaity and squirt of green citrus group make your mouth water and get your eyes scanning around for some fried or grilled seafood to eat. Or fresh mozzarella (with or without tomatoes). Or a salad. Pretty much anything you eat on a sunny, warm, day! A Terrific wine at eye-popping savings.
For You If: You're looking for a slightly different twist on wines like Albarino, Verdejo, Muscadet, or, of course, Falanghina; you're after a terrific all-purpose summer and seafood white that punches way above its price point
Not For You If: You’re after something rich/creamy or oak - this has nice body but is more racy than rich and done all in steel
