Organic/Bio The four friends who started Envinate (“wine yourself”) expand beyond their Canary Islands roots to create this 70% Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet) and 30% Moravia Agria organically grown at 800 meters elevation in Almansa – essentially southern La Mancha. The 2024 is a stunner, dark as night in color and fruit that's all the way ripe, but not at all candied or sweet. A savory, cured meat, note comes up on the sour cherry finish that leaves your mouth watering and hand reaching for the glass to take another sip. Almost too easy to drink already and will keep improving for a decade.
For You If: You're after a red that's definitely "Spanish" but not much like most Spanish wines you've tried before - the fruit, freshness and hint of tobacco leaf are all quite distinctive; you're after a silky red to pair with grilled seafood or paella.
Not For You If: You want your Spanish reds to be marked with American oak - this has a tiny bit of wood character, but nothing like old-school Rioja.
