Organic/Bio With folks like Francois Cotat and Gerard Boulay, Vaceron sits at the very top of any informed "Top Sancerre" lists. Organic farming, low yields, native fermenation and large cask aging give Sancerre of uncommon volume and presence without turning heavy/sweet. This bottling from flint and chalk soils shows excellent tension and minerality to match the white citrus and Granny Smith apple fruit. As JamesSuckling.com says in the 93 point review, "A succulent, driven and elegant white. It offers notes of passion fruit, gunpowder and warm herbs on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity. Lively with a sharp character on the palate, yet it remains juicy, agile and comforting. Delicious finish with excellent length."
For You If: You enjoy Sancerre with tension and volume, purity and weight - this is neither heavy/oaked like many warm-vintage wines or just acid/chalk like some others.
Not For You If: You're in the mood for Sancerre that floats lightly over your palate - this makes a textural and flavor impact!
