This is his all-steel Nebbiolo and it’s a treat for all your senses. The aromas are captivating, if surprisingly hard to describe. The red berry fruit is ripe and crunchy, the mouthfeel light at first before fine, firm, tannins give the wine substance and amp up the flavors through a truly flowing finish. The Vinous 93 point rave captures it nicely, “The 2022 Nebbiolo Carlin is an exuberant, fruity wine endowed with tons of charm. Succulent red cherry fruit, cinnamon, orange peel and spice fill out the layers nicely. This, too, is beautifully done—a gem.”
For You If: You like the finesse of elegant Pinot Noir, the juicy acids and cherry fruit of Sangiovese, and/or the firm and fine tannins so classic in Nebbiolo, this is your wine - so many people are going to fall for this beauty!
Not For You If: You're after a wine that shows thickness of mouth feel or you don't like any tannin, no matter how fine and ripe - this is more pure in feel and finishes with some definite, if joyful, grip.
