A tremendous bottle of Eola Hills Pinot made from estate fruit with just a little whole cluster and a lot of style, charm and power. We love the silky feel to the spiced red berry fruit and an enlivening twist of orange peel at the end. As Suckling says in the 94 point review, “A well-balanced, full-bodied red that stays nicely fresh on the palate and finish. Aromas of cranberries, red tea and baked cherries give way to nicely tangy orange zest, black cherries and cloves on the palate. Good concentration and moderate tannins for structure.
For You If: You’re looking for classic Willamette Valley Pinot grace and silky feel with plenty of freshness and an extra burst of power to drink now or after cellaring.
Not For You If: You’re looking for Pinot that’s very rich and plush/velvet in feel – this has lovely sweet fruit but is pretty fresh and glides like silk rather than coating like velvet.
